It is only a month since the cattle slaughterhouse in Holsted started slaughtering animals, and new records are being set every day at the new high-tech facility.
Yesterday, 547 animals were slaughtered. This is the highest number of cattle so far to be slaughtered in a single day, which even included an hour-long production stop. The IT which controls the complex machinery at the slaughterhouse is still presenting some challenges.
- It's going in the right direction, and steady progress is being made every day, explains a satisfied factory manager, Per Svane Knudsen.
He expects to come close to also slaughtering 550 animals today, which means that the plant is almost two thirds of the way towards operating at full capacity.
The aim is to slaughter 900 animals a day once the slaughterhouse is fully run-in.
In addition to slaughtering, processes such as cutting and deboning, the mincing line and the packing department are all in full swing, so the entire production is up and running.
Following the recent closure of the old factory in Holstebro and the partial closure of the plant in Skjern, manning is almost in place.
At the moment, a total of 172 production employees are working in Holsted.
