Paul Lederer, chairman of Australia’s largest meat corporation Primo Smallgoods, was today presented with the diploma of the Danish Export Association and the honorary medal of His Royal Highness Prince Henrik.

This took place at a ceremony in Sydney with participation of among others Børge Petersen, the Danish Ambassador to Australia, Kjeld Johannesen, CEO of Danish Crown and a number of Australian politicians and business people.

Paul Lederer is presented with the award for his importance to the export of Danish meat to Australia since his first contact to Danish Crown in 1996.

- Paul Lederer wholly deserves this honor. He is a strong and innovative businessman and a great personality, who we have been very pleased to work with throughout many years, says Kjeld Johannesen.

- As a pioneer Paul Lederer has led a large part of development of trading between Denmark and Australia. This has created economic growth to the benefit of both societies in general and companies in both countries, says Kjeld Johannesen.

From 38 to 4,000
Primo Smallgoods was established in 1985. Since then the company has expanded from 38 employees in the first year to 4,000 today making it Australia’s largest meat corporation.

- Paul Lederer skilfully saw the opportunities of importing Danish high quality products from Danish Crown for the Australian bacon production. This has developed into a huge success to both parties, explains Kjeld Johannesen.

- It is excellent evidence of our great cooperation over the years that we from onset shook hands on Danish Crown committing to supplying at least 1,500 tonnes per month, which Primo on the other hand committed to buy - without any written agreement, Kjeld Johannesen concludes.


About the honorary award
The diploma of the Danish Export Association and the honorary medal of His Royal Highness Prince Henrik is awarded to people or companies abroad – including Danish subsidiaries – who makes an extraordinary effort to Danish export.
