Randers, 11 May 2016
Andreas Friis begins his work at a crucial time in the history of Danish Crown – with the new CEO in place and a new strategy in the pipeline the company will take important steps towards a stronger group identity.
Group CEO Jais Valeur has on several occasions said that he wishes an even stronger winning culture with firm internal goals, ambitious demands for ourselves and each other – and at the same time a strong external workplace identity.
- Part of what we should become better at is recruitment and retainment of talent in the company. Our new Group Managing Director of HR will in this and a number of focus areas concerning strategy, presentations, people, organisation and values play a pivotal role, says Jais Valeur.
The news of the new HR executive comes at a time when media readings show that the food sector – not least Danish Crown – is very low on the career option list of young highly educated people.
Unlike Novo-Nordisk which is much higher up on the list. This is where Andreas Friis since 2005 has held a number of executive positions in HR both in Denmark and the USA – recently being responsible for the Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients unit. He describes his motivation for the new job in this manner:
- I think Danish Crown is an exciting company supplying excellent meat and food which a lot of people demand. Professionally, I represent the vision of HR making a difference to business. It has to a high degree motivated me to hear that Jais Valeur and Danish Crown management considers HR a strategic management discipline. I am very much looking forward to getting to know the organisation and together with the business define the challenges of the future. At the same time I am very humble towards the task.
The formal title of Andreas Friis will be Vice President HR with reference to Jais Valeur. Andreas Friis describes himself as a direct, result oriented, humorous person, who enjoys nature.
- I actually grew up in the country side being the son of the head estate manager at the estate Sødringholm by Randers Fjord, Denmark. Privately I cohabitate with Celine at a country house in Jyderup with dogs, chicken and Islandic horses – and we hope to find a similar place close to Randers or nearby, says Andreas Friis.
