Last week, DC in Horsens did its bit for charity. The objective was to raise money for Families with Children Affected by Cancer, today, a cheque for 83,000 Danish kroner was presented to the Danish organisation.
The idea of raising money for Families with Children Affected by Cancer came from the front-end department’s day team and workplace union representative Lars Mose. Lars Mose had heard that Radio Horsens had launched a large-scale fundraising project for the cancer charity and suggested that the front-end department should chip in. And the idea was met with enthusiasm.
Everyone’s willingness to support a good cause spread like rings in the water at the slaughterhouse, and employees from several other departments also decided to support the initiative. Which is clear from the result.
Today, front-end master butcher Frank Wolff, union representative Lars Mose, the spokesperson Lars Nielsen and the butcher Niels Andersen went on air on Radio Horsens to present the cheque for 83,000 Danish kroner. A surprisingly large amount.
- It has simply surpassed everyone’s expectations. I don’t think anybody had imagined us being able to raise so much money, says a delighted Frank Wolff.
According to Frank Wolff, Radio Horsens originally expected the project as a whole to raise approx. 80-100,000 kroner. They were therefore very impressed with the DC Horsens’ achievement.
The cheque was presented to Charlotte Jensen, who is a member of the governing board of Families with Children Affected by Cancer.
- It is a wonderful result, and we are very grateful for the huge effort everyone has made, she said.
The money will go to Anselot, a holiday and recreational centre near the lake Tange Sø in Central Jutland, which is owned by the charity. The centre is for families with children affected by cancer who can stay there for shorter or longer periods, either during or immediately following their child’s intensive treatment.
