Meaty facts or hot air?

Question:
Is there a lot of salmonella in pork?

Answer:
Salmonella is found in less than 2% of the pork produced by Danish Crown. This is one of the lowest incidences in the world. See also ‘What is salmonella?’

Question:
Must the farmers who deliver animals to Danish Crown meet certain requirements?

Answer:
Yes, they must. Danish Crown has, for example, introduced a Code of Practice for our pork producers. The Code of Practice sets out the standards over and above the statutory requirements which farmers must comply with – both industry-specific requirements, and requirements specific to Danish Crown.
The requirements are divided into the following main categories:
• Food safety
• Meat quality
• Feedstuffs
• Ethics and animal welfare
By signing the Code of Practice, Danish Crown’s suppliers guarantee that their production will live up to the stricter requirements set out under each of these headings.
