Meaty facts or hot air?

Question:
Do you only produce pork?

Answer:
No, Danish Crown produces a large number of other foods. The parent company produces both fresh pork and beef. The production also includes processed food products (sliced meats, sausages, bacon, ready meals etc.) in Danish Crown’s subsidiaries. All in all, Danish Crown is the largest meat-processing company in Europe.

Question:
Are there parts of the pig which you do not use?

Answer:
Nothing goes to waste at Danish Crown. Those parts of the pig which are not suited for producing foods for human consumption are sold to Daka which produces environmentally friendly feedstuffs, biodiesel and fuel.

Question:
How much do you produce?

Answer:
Each day, the meat from 70,000 pigs is dispatched from Danish Crown’s slaughterhouses. This equals approx. 4,900 tonnes or 222 lorry loads – every day.

Question:
What are processed products?

Answer:
In Danish Crown terminology, processed products are products which have been fried, boiled or processed in some way so that they are no longer raw. These may be barbecue sausages, salamis, meatballs, boiled hams etc.
