Danish Crown Nordic pools strategically important functions
Randers, 27 march 2009
As part of developing Danish Crown’s plan to strengthen its competitiveness, a completely new business unit, Danish Crown Nordic, is being established which will be based on activities from sales, Domestic market, Friland and DC Livsmedel, with which negotiations are now being initiated.
Danish Crown Nordic will be an independent business unit, focusing on the nearby Scandinavian market, particularly the growing market in Sweden.
“Danish Crown already enjoys a strong position in the Nordic region, and in setting up Danish Crown Nordic we are taking an important strategic step towards strengthening the combined sales efforts on the Nordic market. At the same time, we are achieving synergy effects by pooling some of the administrative functions for the area, which will generate significant savings,” says Morten Petersen, Managing Director of Danish Crown’s Pork Division.
The biggest tasks for the new business unit will be sales of fresh meat, sales and servicing of domestic market activities, running terminals and retail sector packing plants, supplying animals and developing Friland’s activities.
