Environmental policy of the Danish Crown Group

As a leading food producer, the Danish Crown Group is aware of its environmental responsibilities and will work to protect the environment and the climate in connection with the company’s operations and continued growth through systematic endeavours and the careful employment of resources.

Danish Crown’s environmental values are translated into the following environmental policy which is based on current legislation as amended and in force from time to time.

Danish Crown will:

• Focus on minimising the consumption of resources and the environmental impact of its activities

• Motivate, train and actively involve all relevant employees in the day-to-day environmental efforts

• Use and develop management tools which are intended to optimise and document the employment of resources, environmental efforts and environmental performance to ensure continuous environmental improvements.

Systems are selected and optimised with reference to the particular needs of individual business units

• Actively consider the impact of our products on the climate, while working to minimise the impacts attributable to the company’s activities

• Encourage other links in the value chain to consider the climate in relation to our products

• Make endeavours to reduce the use of unnecessary packaging and ancillary materials in dialogue with the company’s customers, so that the least environmentally harmful products are used with due consideration being given, of course, to the company’s competitiveness

• Actively participate, through membership of various organisations, in developing ways of reducing the inevitable environmental impacts of its production activities

• Work, via professional and industrial bodies, to ensure that future environmental legislation is harmonised within the EU and planned in a balanced way

• Establish an open and constructive dialogue with the public about relevant environmental issues, e.g. in
areas affecting the individual companies’ neighbours and immediate surroundings

• Ensure that the company’s environmental policy is visible internally and externally
