Combustion of animal fat

Ever since 2000, the slaughterhouses in Ringsted, Blans and Horsens have replaced some of the fossil fuels used with animal fat. Animal fat comes with a number of environmental advantages as well as beneficial combustion properties. However, uncertainty surrounding the possible uses of the fat has meant that no more plants have been converted for combusting fat. Instead, some of the fat is used to produce biodiesel.
