Strategy to further reduce climate change impact
Danish Crown will, in collaboration with partners within the industry and society in general, work actively to promote the following initiatives:
• Mapping climate change impact of the supply chain for our products, including beef and processed products
• Developing technology, processes and logistics to minimise the climate change impact from the stable door to the Group’s customers
• Realising specific and quantifiable climate change improvements in the Group's products through management and the use of new technology
• Involving climate change concerns in the development of new products and types of packaging in collaboration with our customers
• Developing comparable and valid standards for calculating the climate change impacts of meat production
• R&D activities within climate models in product chains, resource utilisation and technology for climate control and cooling
• Actively promoting the consideration of climate change issues in relation to raw materials, ancillary materials and services in collaboration with cooperative members and suppliers
Danish Crown as a company does not have the resources needed to cover this extensive area on its own. It is therefore important that external research resources are allocated to the area if significant progress is to be made.
At the same time, it is important that the R&D conducted within this area looks at the entire value chain of meat production and that efforts are made in areas which hold out the greatest potential.
